Platforms of social media went from simplistic and single way oriented to highly efficient components of worldwide communications in a matter of a few years. As smart phones systems were expanding, so it was the toolkit app stores had available for users, and sooner than later they became more essential to the experience of the device. Truth is, after 2010 a smart phone didn’t felt complete without applications like Whatsapp.
What’s up?
This platform is an instant messaging app designed for interaction via text messages, video calls, voice calls and interactive basic chatting with images, gif, emoticons, etc. Also, it allows users to record voice notes and sends them instantly to other. The system was created on 2009 by former members of Yahoo! Jan Joum and Brian Acton. It has 8 years on the market and even with newfound competition in the form of Telegram, Line, Viber, and others; is still on the top of the chain of app stores.
During it’s rapid growth, Whatsapp turn from being a free application to a paid one, why? It became too big too fast, therefore the demand of expansion needed to dealt with. So founders added the image and files sending capacity and that were one of the turning points through the journey of becoming a great offer in the market of smart phones and applications. It is most common nowadays that a new phone comes with pre-installed Whatsapp right there with facebook and twitter.
Expand the service to everybody
Whatsapp! – A simple alternative to the question: what’s up? The origin of the concept was a mean to an end, people lacked of a successful media for messaging that connected users of different mobile brands. Thankfully one of the pioneers with excellence came to win recognition.
An smart phone application that creates a web version is something odd, but due to the massive use of it… everybody, even non frequent smart phone users want to have Whatsapp close to communicate with others, so thanks to that and globalization, the company invested in 2015 on an extension of the service through a web interface. Simply put, Whatsapp Web hit the digital screen of our laptops and PCs. This extension is unavoidably connected to the application on the smart phone, meaning that you need to have it installed and registered so you can apply it on the web client. It has some minor limitations for content sharing between users but it hits the basic goal of keeping you connected in the way you need and with whom you want.
All the system of the app works with accounts, the way to register is easy… just by entering your own phone number as the username and via automatic search engine compares yours to any already added on the database, if it’s new it will add it up, if you’re already registered then it will load all your previous info and have you back on the app with your previous contact list.
Currently since 2014, Whatsapp is owned by the Facebook company which is the responsible for several new modifications done to improve the service and attract new users to it.
